I have a confession to make. I am a hoarder of raw materials. I’ve always been able to visualize the end product by looking at the components, but I consistently run in to the same road block when it comes to producing. Making the first cut, the first mark, or the first stroke of the pen is, in a word, terrifying. I constantly struggle with that little voice in my head that’s asking “What if you do it wrong? What if you mess it up? What if you don’t have enough material left to start again? What if it’s crap?” The voice, is a jerk. The beauty in making is in the process. The shaping and movement of familiar materials, and the exploration of those that are new. It’s taken years to realize that the final product will be what it is, and that it will always be better than a pile of stock sitting on a shelf. I’m continually inspired by the incredible makers who share their successes and failures daily and I shall endeavour to share mine with you as I progress with various projects. I hope that this will inspire you, too, to be creative. Oh, and…This little strap is destined to be a new collar for @meetmancha #Maker #Making #MakeSomething #MakersLament #craft #LeatherWork #MetalWork #Glasses #DIY #DoIt #GoOutAndMakeSomething #Confidence #BeConfident
